MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— Whistleblower Peter Joemel Advincula, also known as “Bikoy” has been granted temporary liberty after posting bail before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In an order dated July 31, RTC Branch 220 Judge Jose Pa\u00f1eda approved Advincula’s cash bond of PHP10,000 for his provisional liberty and ordered the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) to release him unless he is being detained for some other lawful cause.<\/p>\n

The bail was in connection with charges of violation of Rep. Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.<\/p>\n

PNP spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, said the CIDG-National Capital Region Field Unit received the order of release.<\/p>\n

Advincula, who voluntarily surrendered to the CIDG on Monday night, was brought to Camp Crame for a medical examination prior to his release.<\/p>\n

The PNP said Advincula and was released from CIDG custody at 3:20 p.m. and was received by his brother Joseph.<\/p>\n

Advincula is also a primary witness and respondent in the charge of sedition, inciting to sedition among other charges filed by the CIDG against a number of public personalities behind the so-called Oplan Sodoma hatched to destabilize the government and undermine the administration in time for last May’s elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
