(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/philippinephilharmonic\/photos\/a.498081320545075\/802731146746756\/?type=3&amp;theater\">Photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/philippinephilharmonic\/\">Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Guests for President Rodrigo Duterte\u2019s Fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) will be in for a unique experience as the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), the country\u2019s leading orchestra and one of the renowned top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region, is set to welcome them as they arrive Monday at the House of Representatives for the event.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first time in history that a live symphony orchestra is set to be a part of the President\u2019s annual address before the Joint Session of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) president Arsenio Lizaso said some 65 PPO musicians are preparing to perform their rendition of several classic Filipino compositions in a grand presentation to welcome current and former high government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, House members, senators, as well as their guests on July 22.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompared to the previous SONAs,\u00a0<em>medyo magugulat sila na mayroong<\/em>\u00a0Philharmonic\u00a0<em>na sasalubong sa kanila<\/em>\u00a0(they will be surprised that the Philharmonic is there to welcome them)\u2026<em>Tama doon si<\/em>\u00a0Director Joyce Bernal,<em>\u00a0maiiba yung<\/em>\u00a0SONA (Bernal is right, the SONA would be different) this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an added something, that art will be given significance because we need that. We need to announce to the different senators and congressmen that we are around. We can be available to them,\u201d Lizaso said, adding that the occasion may also be a great opportunity to \u201cpromote nationalistic music to the Filipinos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Philharmonic\u2019s performance will be a realization of Bernal\u2019s vision of a hopeful, lively and grand mood during this year\u2019s SONA.<\/p>\n<p>In an earlier ocular visit at the House of Representatives, the SONA\u2019s two-time director expressed her desire for a novel perspective for Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want it grand,<em>\u00a0sana nga may magandang<\/em>\u00a0music<em>\u00a0na<\/em>\u00a0live.<em>\u00a0Pangarap lang po ito. Kung may budget at may nanglibre,<\/em>\u00a0okay<em>\u00a0sana<\/em>\u00a0(It\u2019s only a dream, but I hope there will be good, live music. If there is a budget or somebody would pay for it, then it could be okay),\u201d Bernal said.<\/p>\n<p>Just like last year, Bernal is directing President Duterte\u2019s SONA for free.<\/p>\n<p>And just like Bernal, Lizaso said the Philharmonic will also perform pro bono for the SONA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will not incur additional expenses,<em>\u00a0libreng-libre ito para sa<\/em>\u00a0(it\u2019s totally free for the) SONA,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ito po ay kalooban ng<\/em>\u00a0Cultural Center of the Philippines<em>.
