(Photo: Stand With CJ\/Facebook via PNA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Malaca\u00f1ang on Tuesday said it is not threatened by calls of former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno for the public to join protests against President Rodrigo Duterte, when the latter delivers his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.<\/p>\n<p>After Sereno bared that she is joining these demonstrations, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said he would even be \u201camused\u201d to watch her do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she refers to those who are critics and detractors of the administration, meaning that she has not joined them for the last few months, well, I think the opposition will welcome her. While we will be amused watching her,\u201d Panelo said in a Palace briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she will join the opposition to exercise her freedom of expression, then by all means, we will egg her to do that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo, meanwhile, dismissed the idea that Sereno\u2019s encouragement for others to join the protests is inciting to sedition.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBaka naman<\/em>\u00a0(Perhaps) she wants to join the rallies.\u00a0<em>Okay lang naman sa amin ang mga<\/em>\u00a0rallies against this government (are okay for us),\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, it\u2019s the President who encourages that.
