“Naganap na ang meeting ng MMFF Executive Committee kung saan ipinahayag ang unang 4 na kalahok sa 45th Metro Manila Film Festival na gaganapin ngayong Disyembre!” (Photo<\/a>: Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)<\/a>\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>A total of four films have officially been approved to complete the Magic 8 for this year\u2019s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), confirmed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority last Wednesday, July 10.<\/span><\/p>\n

The selection committee was composed of MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim, Senator Christopher \u201cBong\u201d Go, and Laguna 1st District Rep. Dan Fernandez, who made the initial announcement, Lim stating in a mix of English and Filipino, \u201cThis year will be the 100th year of Philippine cinema, so let\u2019s plan for a lot of activities so we can really celebrate this event.\u201d National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera was also part of the selection committee, sharing that the four chosen out of the 26 scripts from 22 production houses were judged 40% for Artistic Excellence, 40% for Commercial Appeal, 10% for Filipino Cultural Sensibility, and 10% for Global Appeal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The committee elaborated that the four films initially chosen will be among the selected that are completed by September 20.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The four films include: \u201cAmpon\u201d by Quantum Films starring Derek Ramsey and Kris Aquino, \u201cMiracle in Cell No. 7\u201d by VIVA Films starring Aga Muhlach and Nadine Lustre, \u201cMission Unstopabol: The Don Identity\u201d by APT Entertainment, Inc., ZET Productions starring Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza, and \u201cMomalland\u201d by ABS-CBN Film Productions and VIVA Films starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 45th edition of the MMFF will be opening on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019. Last year, the festival made more than P1.6 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
