{"id":222389,"date":"2019-07-10T20:07:27","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T00:07:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=222389"},"modified":"2019-07-10T20:07:27","modified_gmt":"2019-07-11T00:07:27","slug":"dot-welcomes-dimples-romanas-support-for-tourism-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2019\/07\/10\/dot-welcomes-dimples-romanas-support-for-tourism-efforts\/","title":{"rendered":"DOT welcomes Dimples Romana\u2019s support for tourism efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDepartmentOfTourism%2Fposts%2F2881276011899252&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"770\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Efforts to promote tourist destinations in the Philippines are always welcome, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>DOT Assistant Secretary Roberto Alabado III made this remark after his agency announced that actress Dimples Romana, known for her role as Daniela in an afternoon soap opera \u201cKadenang Ginto\u201d, will be joining tourism promotion efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Romana\u2019s alter ego, \u201cDaniela the explorer\u201d has turned into viral memes where she is seen traveling different tourist destinations as well as unlikely places such as farms, markets and even flooded areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very exciting to see that even TV personalities or showbiz personalities are also showing their support to the programs of the Department of Tourism,\u201d Alabado said in an economic briefing in Malaca\u00f1ang.<\/p>\n<p>Alabado said their heightened support shows that more Filipinos believe in the agency\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s More Fun in the Philippines\u201d brand and slogan.<\/p>\n<p>He said aside from celebrities, other sectors have expressed interest to co-brand with the agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the Department of Tourism right now is getting a groundswell of support from all sectors. We have a lot of companies and co-branding with us. We have a lot of support from the airlines, to the malls, to the telecoms, to food products, fast food, everything,\u201d Alabado said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMahal nila ang Pilipinas at nakikita nila na (They really love the Philippines and they can see that) when we talked to them, they were seeing the best of the Philippines by going around.
