{"id":22135,"date":"2014-08-15T18:47:11","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T10:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=22135"},"modified":"2014-08-15T18:47:11","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T10:47:11","slug":"tourist-arrivals-up-by-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/08\/15\/tourist-arrivals-up-by-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourist arrivals up by 2%"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_9102\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9102\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/beach-tourists.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9102\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/beach-tourists-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ShutterStock image\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/beach-tourists-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/beach-tourists.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ShutterStock image<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 A data from the Department of Tourism showed that the country\u2019s tourist arrivals for the six months of 2014 increased by 2.22 percent to 2.43 million.<\/p>\n<p>For the month of June alone, arrivals reached 372,293 or 0.87 percent more than the 369,073 in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The increase is following the growing number of Asian arrivals which outnumbered its Western counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>Arrivals from the Asian region alone accounted for 58.78 percent, a figure higher than the Americas and Europe which comprised only 19.28 percent and 10.64 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In Asia, South Korea still has the highest number of international visitors with visitors with 547,971 arrivals comprising 22.52-percent share to total inbound traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Growing by 6.84 percent, the US market is ranked second in terms of the influx of arrivals with 389,432 visitors, thus constituting 16 percent of the total inbound traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese market also provided a total of 226,163 visitors with a share of 9.29 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Japan and Austrailia also grew at 5.03 percent and 8.13 percent respectively.
