MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— President Rodrigo Duterte has not given any hint of a supposed plan to revamp his Cabinet, particularly to replace Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Pi\u00f1ol, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo dismissed reports that Pi\u00f1ol would be replaced or transferred to another agency after controversy hounding his meeting with the Occidental Mindoro fishermen whose boat was allegedly rammed and abandoned by a Chinese vessel at the Recto Bank in the West Philippine Sea.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I have not heard of a Cabinet revamp. I only hear about that as rumors,\u201d Panelo said in a Palace briefing.<\/p>\n

Asked if Duterte is still \u201chappy\u201d by Pi\u00f1ol\u2019s performance, Panelo said: \u201cI think so.\u00a0Wala naman siyang sinasabi sa amin na hindi siya<\/em>\u00a0happy (He didn\u2019t mention anything about not being happy).\u201d<\/p>\n

Panelo pointed out that Duterte would usually be frank about telling his Cabinet members if he was displeased by their performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cSi Presidente, sinasabi niya nang harap-harapan eh<\/em>\u00a0(The President, he would say it to you directly), \u2018I\u2019m not happy with you.\u2019\u00a0Sasabihin niya sa\u2019yo eh<\/em>\u00a0(He would say that to you),\u201d Panelo said.<\/p>\n

Pi\u00f1ol\u2019s meeting with the fishermen last week was met with criticism after the fishermen, who earlier claimed they were abandoned, changed their tune and said they were no longer sure about what happened.<\/p>\n

Netizens pointed out that Pi\u00f1ol could have coerced them to lie but the Agriculture chief denied this allegation.<\/p>\n

Panelo earlier said Palace will await investigation results of both the Philippine and Chinese authorities and compare notes.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, Duterte revealed that he already has \u201cpreliminary reports\u201d from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Navy on the Recto Bank incident.<\/p>\n
