{"id":21528,"date":"2014-08-12T00:25:32","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T16:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=21528"},"modified":"2015-09-20T15:23:22","modified_gmt":"2015-09-20T07:23:22","slug":"46-percent-of-philippine-science-high-school-graduates-can-enter-mit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/08\/12\/46-percent-of-philippine-science-high-school-graduates-can-enter-mit\/","title":{"rendered":"46 percent of Philippine Science High School graduates can enter MIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/philippine-science-highschool-pshs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21529\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/philippine-science-highschool-pshs.jpg\" alt=\"philippine science highschool pshs\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/philippine-science-highschool-pshs.jpg 560w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/philippine-science-highschool-pshs-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Forty-six percent of Philippine Science High School (PSHS) graduates will meet the criteria of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario Montejo said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>During the Congress Budget Hearing at the House of Representatives, Montejo said this shows that Filipino students is quite competitive in the field of math.<\/p>\n<p>At the budget hearing, the PSHS has proposed an increase in its 2015 budget by 15.12 percent, to Php 1.1 million from last year&#8217;s Php 963.8 thousand.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, PSHS\u2019 fund for personal services is estimated at 370.8 thousand pesos, while maintenance and other operating expenses is allocated at 398 thousand.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, a Php 340.76 thousand proposed allocation for capital outlay was also added to PSHS\u2019 funds for 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Relatively, the DOST stated that their scholars are under a monitoring system after graduation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe have a monitoring system to identify where students under our scholarship program are working.
