President Rodrigo Duterte has terminated the appointment of Food and Drug Authority (FDA) Director-General Nela Charade-Puno due to corruption allegations, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Puno signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea dated May 15, he said the reason for her termination is \u201cin line with the President\u2019s continuing mandate to eradicate graft and corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease be advised that upon instructions of the President, your appointment as Director General of the Food and Drugs Authority, Department of Health, is hereby terminated, effective immediately,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in line with the President&#8217;s continuing mandate to eradicate graft and corruption and to ensure that public officials and employees conduct themselves in a manner worthy of public trust,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>Medialdea instructed Puno to immediately turn over all official documents and properties in her possession to the Office of the Undersecretary for Health Regulation, Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>Puno has yet to issue a statement on her termination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0&#8212;
