MANILA \u2013 Words like \u201cdelusional\u201d and a \u201c”desperate diversionary tactic” of the administration best describes the proposal of extending President Aquino\u2019s term, according to a militant group, Bayan.<\/p>\n

“It is bereft of any legal basis. It is oblivious to the rising tide of discontent over Aquino and his pork barrel funds. It wrongly presumes that Aquino is God\u2019s gift to the Filipino people and that it is in our best interest to keep him in power, perhaps forever,” Bayan secretary general Renato Reyes Jr said.<\/p>\n

He also said that the President should be tried in court for the impeachable offenses that he committed.<\/p>\n

“He is currently accused of 116 counts of technical malversation. He is accused of corrupting public officials through the DAP. He is accused of exacerbating the pork barrel system of corruption and patronage,” Reyes said.<\/p>\n

The secretary general also said that the proposed second term is meant to improve the dismal performance rating of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas.<\/p>\n

Roxas is the presumptive standard bearer of the Liberal Party, the administration\u2019s party, in the coming 2016 polls.<\/p>\n

“The second term ploy being orchestrated by Roxas and Palace psy war operators in social media is doomed to fail. It has been exposed as nothing but a self-serving scheme being used to downplay Aquino\u2019s liability in the DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Program) scandal,” Reyes said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
