Retired American champion boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has sparked a lot of controversy since he landed in the Philippines, most recently being labelled as \u2018chicken\u2019 by a female netizen as the athlete was lounging around a Metro Manila mall.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a video posted by EditinaKing Boxing on Twitter, the woman can be seen yelling at Mayweather, who is walking around the vicinity, telling him, \u201cI hate you. You\u2019re a chicken.\u201d The 42-year-old \u201cPretty Boy\u201d then responds with a thumbs-up sign, but continues his way down the escalator.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mayweather landed in the home country of his rival, current World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight champion Senator Manny Pacquiao, at the beginning of the month through his private jet \u201cAir Mayweather.\u201d A few days prior, he announced his trip to the Filipino boxing fans, saying, \u201cI\u2019ll be over in the Philippines tomorrow. Philippines, we\u2019re going to have fun, we\u2019re going to enjoy ourselves. Philippines, I love you. I\u2019m on my way.\u201d He spent his first few days enjoying the rehabilitated island of Boracay, where he was able to enjoy some cocktails by the water, shoot hoops at a local mall, and competed in a game of beach volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 2, he returns to Manila to attend an event hosted by celebrity dermatologist, Dr. Victoria Belo. He was supposed to attend a press conference at Resorts World Manila on the same day, but opted out of his appearance instead, leading the local media outlets waiting for eight hours before the announcement of the cancellation. It was reported by a hotel insider that he chose to relax in his suite instead. <\/span><\/p>\n

The next day, however, Floyd finally faced the media in a more intimate setting at Corinthian Gardens, where he revealed his opinions on the possibilities of the highly-discussed rematch of \u201cThe Fight of the Century.\u201d In his words to CNN Philippines, \u201cYou don’t have to bank on a second time. I got the job done right the first time. I always get it done right. Fifty times I went out there, I got the job done right,\u201d referring to his victory over Manny Pacquiao the first time and his unblemished record.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
