(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/archer10\/22288213635\/in\/photolist-zXwVpr-EDCjat-K1rVBw-z1pa7b-dk4ic9-zEW71C-z1zLEq-zEXfS3-zF52oU-fAkcze-zWn8m5-zF1xEq-zF4odc-zEMjk5-zWyUn5-zYCLWx-zYeJCR-z1CHUP-zEUvNk-zEG753-zFbgxp-zWha8b-dk4tRF-zF1RWV-zXxBbk-zYig9p-zWsnKW-zXjBQc-z1R5sD-zEGzMh-zWsc1u-zXuvv8-dk4hqH-zESEhZ-z1kLFf-zEQNbt-z1Cqig-zEYFyy-zET9bd-zWfLif-zWaKaJ-z1wmCT-z1KNnc-hCc2fL-7Fgx1Y-p6ouBR-zF75pw-zWqdQf-zEZYhn-zV8UF1\">File Photo<\/a> By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/archer10\/\">Dennis Jarvis\/Flickr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/2.0\/\">CC BY-SA 2.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The province of Prince Edward Island has invited 199 economic immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in a draw held February 21.\u00a0\u00a0<span id=\"more-11921\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The invitations more than doubled the 91 issued in the province\u2019s\u00a0January draw.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 170 candidates in Prince Edward Island (PEI)\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/pei-pnp-express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/prince-edward-island-labour-impact-category.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour Impact<\/a>\u00a0categories received invitations in the February 21 draw.<\/p>\n<p>PEI\u2019s provincial nominee program, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/prince-edward-island-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PEI PNP<\/a>, did not disclose how many Express Entry candidates were invited to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Another 29 entrepreneur candidates were invited through PEI\u2019s Business Impact:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/prince-edward-island-business-impact-category.html#WorkPermitStream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Work Permit Stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The PEI PNP is a component of Canada\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/provincial-nomination-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>, which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for permanent residence each year.<\/p>\n<p>The PEI PNP has an Express Entry category that is aligned with the federal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry system<\/a>, which manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada\u2019s main economic immigration categories \u2014 the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI must first complete a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.<\/p>\n<p>These profiles are given a score based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French and the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through monthly draws.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates who obtain a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points toward their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry ranking score<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>PEI welcomes EOIs from candidates in the federal Express Entry pool who do not have a job offer in the province.
