This is the first time in history that the event will be happening in the country. (Photo<\/a>: Red Bull Cliff Diving<\/a>\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>Twenty-four professional male and female cliff divers will participate in the 11th annual Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in April, with the first leg of the challenge to be in El Nido, Palawan. This is the first time in history that the event will be happening in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seven-legged series will launch from April 12-13. The divers, which include record champions Australian Rhiannan Iffland and British Gary Hunt, will soar up to 27 meters from the Small and Big Lagoon in Minloc Island, testing their concentration, skill, and physical control as they reach up to 86 kilometers in speed. According to the event, the divers will be judged on take off, position in the air, and entry in the water. However, there will also be four wildcard divers who will be featured during the leg as well, as they work to heighten up their standing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other than the main event, Clean Cliffs Project will allow the event\u2019s attendees to participate in educational and clean-up workshops, which will discuss El Nido\u2019s conservation efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Assistant Protection Area Management Board Superintendent Carolyn Esmenda about the event, \u201c<\/span> The grant to hold the event in a national park is not merely to draw more tourists, but to show the world our efforts to protect and preserve this paradise from the threats of mass tourism. I personally think the event can help convey to the world the need to protect paradises like ours though responsible tourism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The six other locations that the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will stop at include: Dublin in Ireland, Polignano a Mare in Italy, Sao Miguel in Azores, Portugal, Beirut in Lebanon, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bilbao in Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports and its channels, as well as Red Bull TV.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
