Keating\/Flickr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/2.0\/\">CC BY 2.0<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>British Columbia nominated 3,100 candidates in the federal Express Entry system for Canadian permanent residence in 2018 through its provincial nominee program, the BC PNP.\u00a0<span id=\"more-11842\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Figures provided to\u00a0<em>CIC News<\/em>\u00a0by the BC PNP show the majority of these nominations\u00a0 \u2014 1,999 \u2014 were issued through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-british-columbia.html#SkilledWorkers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry BC (EEBC) Skilled Worker category<\/a>, which is open to skilled foreign workers with work experience and a job offer in an eligible high-demand occupation in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Another 936 nominations were issued through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-british-columbia.html#InternationalGraduates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EEBC: International Graduate category<\/a>\u00a0and 165 went Express Entry candidates through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-british-columbia.html#InternationalPostGraduates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EEBC: International Post-Graduate category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry system<\/a>\u00a0manages the pool of candidates for Canada\u2019s three Federal High Skilled economic immigration programs \u2014 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/federal-skilled-worker-program-fswp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Worker Class<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-federal-skilled-trades-program-fstc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Trades Class<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canadian-experience-class.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Experience Class<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11848 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/4597wq4asyz01jes8rz3yr94-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/BC-PNP-Nominations-2018.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"649\" \/><\/p>\n<p>British Columbia\u2019s EEBC categories allow the BC PNP to select eligible\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-candidates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry candidates<\/a>\u00a0and nominate them for permanent residence in the province.<\/p>\n<p>The main advantage of a provincial nomination for Express Entry candidates is the 600 additional points that the nominated candidate receives toward their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) score, which effectively assures an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-invitation-to-apply-for-permanent-residence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A full-time, permanent job offer in the province is required in order to be eligible for the EEBC: Skilled Worker category\u00a0and the EEBC: International Graduate category, which is open to Express Entry candidates who graduated from an eligible Canadian university or college within the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>A job offer is not required in order to receive a nomination through the EEBC: International Post-Graduate category, which is open to international graduates of eligible B.C. institutions who have obtained a master\u2019s or doctoral degree in an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-stream.html#studyprograms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eligible scientific discipline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates who wish to be considered for a provincial nomination through the EEBC: Skilled Worker and EEBC: International Graduate categories\u00a0are required to register via the province\u2019s points-based\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-skills-immigration-registration-system-sirs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skills Immigration Registration System<\/a>\u00a0(SIRS), which helps B.C. to select workers who are best-suited to its labour market needs.<\/p>\n<p>SIRS registrants are given\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-skills-immigration-registration-system-sirs.html#SIRSscoringsystem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a score<\/a>\u00a0based on factors that include their job offer, its location and annual wage.
