Typhoon Haiyan had displaced over four million people, with Tacloban being one of the hardest hit areas.<\/p>\n<p>Joined by Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Neil Reeder, Enverga paid a visit to communities in Tacloban, speaking with families who were living in temporary shelters established by Canadian agencies and partners under the government of Canada\u2019s Typhoon Haiyan Fund. Enverga was also given a status update on the progress made thus far by Canadian agencies and partners such as Action Contre la Faim, Care Canada, Plan Canada, Save the Children Canada, World Vision and the International Organization for Migration.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after his visit to Tacloban, the Philippines was hit yet again by another major weather disturbance. Typhoon Rammasun was the seventh storm of the season, and the first to make landfall. The death toll has risen to over 100, with over 500,000 individuals displaced by the storm.<\/p>\n<p>On July 21, Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie announced that the Government of Canada would be providing $250,000 in humanitarian assistance to benefit those affected by Typhoon Rammasun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCanada\u2019s immediate response will help ensure emergency relief is provided as soon as possible to the people and families affected,\u201d Minister Paradis said.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/enverga-pix.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/enverga-pix-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"enverga pix\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-19985\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/enverga-pix-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/enverga-pix.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senator Enverga recently visited Tacloban City, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.
