Paano niya kaya maitataguyod ang kanyang nabuong pamilya?&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BrRk-G8FIbk\/\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/akosikenchan\/\">@akosikenchan<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/\">Instagram<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-profit organization Autism Society PH (ASP) begs netizens to stop \u201cThe Boyet Challenge,\u201d which imitates actor Ken Chan\u2019s character who is a young father who has mild Autism Spectrum Disorder and mild intellectual disability on GMA-7 teleserye <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My Special Tatay.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement on its Facebook page, the ASP \u201ccondemns the latest social media experiment called \u2018The Boyet Challenge\u2019 as thinly-veiled instruments of ridicule of those who live with autism and intellectual disabilities\u201d referencing Republic Act 9442 saying that the law \u201cprotects persons with disabilities *(PWDs) from ridicule and vilification; and imposes fines and imprisonment as penalties to violators.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The organization adds in Filipino, \u201cBut even if there is no law, are we still human if we laugh at our brothers and sisters with a disability? Don\u2019t make having autism a mockery or something to be ridiculed.\u201d In conclusion, the statement ends, \u201cAll this as we commemorate the National Autism Consciousness Week!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With its statement, the group launches the #1bansa#1pangako advocacy, which aims to end the use of \u2018autistic\u2019 as an insult. In its words, \u201cLet us promise to act to stop the derogatory use of the word &#8216;autistic&#8217; and to promote the true acceptance and inclusion of Filipinos with disabilities. One simple promise can spur the change that may make life better for millions of Filipinos with autism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most recently, ASP also posted an article on its page answering \u201csix common questions on the logic behind the #no2boyetchallenge,\u201d stating \u201cThere is no need to pick fights. Many who have participated in this challenge quickly recognize the disability slur once it is pointed out. Think of this as an opportunity to teach and inspire change.
