Duterte appointed him to lead backdoor talks with the Reds.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made this remark after the President himself rejected Andal\u2019s claim saying he \u201chad no instruction\u201d to appoint Andal to lead backchannel talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Andal was not authorized. He was not authorized to do back channeling, the President himself said so,\u201d Panelo said in a Palace briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Siguro puyat na siya, baka inaantok na siya, baka<\/em>\u00a0(Perhaps he was sleep-deprived, maybe he was still sleepy) he misunderstood the conversation. Can\u2019t blame him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Andal claimed that the President personally informed him about his plan to let him lead backdoor talks in a wake in Manila last week.<\/p>\n<p>Panelo, however, said he had no personal knowledge about the conversation which took place during the wake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Hindi ko alam, hindi ko alam iyan<\/em>\u00a0(I don\u2019t know that).
