MANILA — Has the Queen of All Philippine Media given up on love?<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Kris Aquino jokingly answered the question, “Oo, give up na!” (Yes, I give up!)<\/p>\n

“Hayaan mo na lang muna. Parang hindi talaga doon ang suwerte.<\/em> And siguro, kung anuman… parang<\/em> as it is now, masasabi kong okey ako kasi kailangan pa ako ng mga anak ko. Kasi <\/em>seven lang si Bim [Bimby],<\/em> nineteen lang si Josh,” <\/em>she explained.\u00a0“Siguro \u2018pag hindi na nila ako kailangan, doon ko mapi-feel na <\/em>sad ang buhay. <\/em>But while you feel needed in love, it\u2019s okay.“<\/em><\/p>\n

(Let’s just leave it this way for now. Perhaps my luck just isn’t there. As it is now, I can say I’m okay because my kids still need me. I mean, Bim is just seven, Josh is only nineteen. Maybe when they stop needing me, that’s when I’ll start feeling sad. But while you feel needed in love, it’s okay.)<\/p>\n

When asked to describe her closeness with hunky actor Derek Ramsay and how he helped her get over from her failed relationship with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Kris said, “Kasi mabait siya [Derek] talaga<\/em> (He’s really nice).”<\/p>\n

“Kasi,<\/em> I think, nasabi rin niya ito sa<\/em> interview na, maraming beses na<\/em> immediate family mo<\/em> lang ang puwede mong hingan ng samaan ng loob. Pero minsan, ang pamilya mo rin ang nagsasawa na sa<\/em> angst mo, \u2018di ba? <\/em>So, dapat may ibang<\/em> sounding board.”<\/p>\n

(Like what he said in an interview, there are times that you can only share your sentiments with your immediate family. But sometimes, your own family gets tired of your angst, right? So, you should have other sounding boards.)<\/p>\n

During the screening of the box-office movie ‘The Fault in Our Stars,’ Kris watched the movie with her two sons and–who else–Derek Ramsay.<\/p>\n

“Napi-feel ko <\/em>with him na <\/em>whatever I tell him, nagkakaroon ako ng <\/em>male perspective. Alam mo naman na halos lahat ng <\/em>friends ko, bakla.<\/em> I mean, yun ang mga pinaka-close ko\u2014si Vice [Ganda], si Boy [Abunda]. Puro <\/em>gay. Tapos yung mga <\/em>staff ko, katrabaho ko lahat. <\/em>So, walang male,<\/em>” Kris added.<\/p>\n

(I feel that whatever I tell him, I get a male perspective.<\/p>\n

You know, all my friends are almost all gay, I mean the closest ones–Vice Ganda, Boy Abunda. And my staff all work with me. So, no males.)<\/p>\n

So is this lack of “male perspective” in her life the only reason for their close friendship?<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t waste your time.’ Yung ginaganun ako na talaga na parang, <\/em>‘Stop, don\u2019t waste your time. Cut it off!’ Alam mo yung sa <\/em>‘Sex In The City’ na <\/em>he\u2019s not that into you, na kailangang yung lalaki lang ang magsasabi sa iyo nun? Yun ang papel<\/em> niya,<\/em>” she continued to explain.<\/p>\n

(I told Derek, I’m really lucky because he’s one of or he’s the only alpha male I became friends with who can tell me straight\u00a0‘Can you just stop? Don\u2019t waste your time’ or\u00a0‘Stop, don\u2019t waste your time. Cut it off!’ You know that thing from ‘Sex in the City’–where he’s not that into you–and you need the guy to tell you that? That’s his role.)<\/p>\n

“At the same time, \u2018pag malungkot ako, gumagawa talaga siya ng paraan.\u00a0Sa gitna nga ng bagyo, sabi ko, <\/em>‘You know, yung mga <\/em>constituents ng <\/em>friend ko, sobrang matutuwa na makita ka kahit bumabaha, <\/em>please.’ So, gagawan niya talaga ng paraan<\/em> pumunta.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

(At the same time, when I’m sad, he [Derek] really makes ways. In the middle of a typhoon, I said, ‘You know, my friend’s constituents will be really happy to see you amid the flood, please.’ So, he made a way to be there.<\/p>\n
