(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Br9qegulMxS\/\">File Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ladygaga\/\">@ladygaga\/Instagram<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Portrayals of real-life musicians dominated at the 2019 Golden Globes as \u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d and \u201cGreen Book\u201d won top honours, while the films&#8217; stars also picked up awards for their acclaimed performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBohemian Rhapsody,\u201d about the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, bested another movie surrounded by music, the favourite \u201cA Star is Born,\u201d to win best picture, drama and best actor in a drama for Rami Malek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreen Book,\u201d which follows a tour between pianist Don Shirley and Tony Vallelonga, won best picture (musical or comedy) and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali.<\/p>\n<p>Though music is at the centre of both \u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d and \u201cA Star Is Born,\u201d the films competed in the drama categories instead of musical\/comedy, submitted that way by its studios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Star Is Born\u201d walked into Sunday&#8217;s Globes as a favourite with five nominations, but only ended up winning one award: best original song for \u201cShallow,\u201d co-written by Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n<p>She and Cooper lost in their respective acting categories. Cooper also lost in the directing and producing categories.<\/p>\n<p>Gaga shared the win with Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a woman in music it is really hard to be taken seriously as a musician and as a songwriter,\u201d Gaga said onstage, adding that her co-writers \u201clifted me up, they supported me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The award was presented by Taylor Swift and Idris Elba at the Beverly Hilton.<\/p>\n<p>It was Gaga&#8217;s second Globe win: In 2016, she won best actress in a miniseries or motion picture made for television for her role in FX&#8217;s \u201cAmerican Horror Story: Hotel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShallow,\u201d performed by Gaga and Bradley Cooper, has earned four Grammy nominations, including song and record of the year. The track also reached platinum status and became a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.<\/p>\n<p>The song, shortlisted for best original song at the 2019 Academy Awards, beat out some heavy-hitters at the Globes, including Kendrick Lamar and SZA&#8217;s \u201cAll the Stars\u201d from \u201cBlack Panther\u201d; Dolly Parton and Linda Perry&#8217;s \u201cGirl in the Movies\u201d from \u201cDumplin\u201d&#8217;; Annie Lennox&#8217;s \u201cRequiem for a Private War\u201d from \u201cA Private War;\u201d and Troye Sivan and Jonsi&#8217;s \u201cRevelation\u201d from \u201cBoy Erased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justin Hurwitz picked up his third Golden Globe when he won best original score for \u201cFirst Man\u201d on Sunday.
