Christmas Day was special for television host Mariel Rodriguez, as her husband Robin Padilla finally met her her dad, Abelardo Termulo after eight years of the couple\u2019s marriage.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an Instagram post, Robin elaborates how happy he was meeting his father-in-law, \u201cafter more than eight years of waiting and more than three visa applications to the US embassy,\u201d saying in Filipino, \u201cA very important scene in my life took place and fulfilled this holiday season. God is great!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cWe have so many dreams in life but sometimes He does not give it to us even when we have done everything to get it, but we know that we have the things we ask for him.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

In a separate post, Mariel describes how \u201c[her] heart is so full,\u201d expressing gratitude by saying, \u201cThank you so much to everyone in my family for being so supportive of this moment. It means so much to me.\u201d She concludes, \u201cMy 2018 is complete. I have been waiting for this day for 8 years… thank you, God for giving it to me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Robin and Mariel got married in 2010 at the Taj Mahal in India without Aberlardo present because he was based in the United States. This was also the first time he met his granddaughter, the couple\u2019s two-year-old Isabella.<\/span><\/p>\n

The day before redirecting their followers to the joyous affair, Robin was under fire for \u2018celebrating Christmas\u2019 as a Muslim. This was after his wife\u2019s post of the family\u2019s \u201cfirst Christmas together,\u201d explaining how Isabella\u2019s first Christmas last year was in the United States while Robin was in Marawi. The photo received 47,000 likes as of writing, however, many netizens were quick to comment on how a Muslim should know what is \u2018forbidden\u2019 and \u2018permissible\u2019 in Islamic law. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mariel was quick to disable viewers from commenting on the photo, while Robin defended himself stating that \u201cChristmas is love and sharing.\u201d In his words, \u201cChristmas in the Philippines is more of culture and traditions not of religious extremism. We all believe in the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ (PBUH) let us focus [our] energy and conversation on things that we are the same God-willing.\u201d Mariel agrees, saying, \u201cAs parents, it is our duty to teach our children how to respect ALL religions.
