Manitoba held its second Expression of Interest draw of December on Thursday, issuing 492 invitations to immigration candidates in its Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education streams.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These streams are part of the\u00a0Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(MPNP), which allows Manitoba to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for permanent residence each year.<\/p>\n

A total of 351 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for a provincial nomination were issued through the\u00a0Skilled Workers Overseas Stream<\/a>\u00a0and 106 LAAs went to\u00a0Skilled Workers in Manitoba<\/a>\u00a0candidates.<\/p>\n

Another 35 letters went to candidates registered under Manitoba\u2019s new\u00a0International Education Stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Skilled Workers Overseas candidates invited in this draw had\u00a0scores as low as 576 and the lowest score for Skilled Workers in Manitoba was 502.<\/p>\n

The December 20 draw brings the total number of invitations issued this month by the MPNP to 1,022.<\/p>\n

Express Entry candidates among those invited<\/h3>\n

An unspecified number of Express Entry candidates were among the Skilled Workers Overseas candidates invited on December 20 \u2014 the second time this month that the MPNP has issued invitations through its Express Entry pathway.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Express Entry system<\/a>\u00a0manages the pool of candidates for Canada\u2019s three Federal High Skilled economic immigration programs \u2014\u00a0the\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker Class<\/a>,\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Class<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Canadian Experience Class<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MPNP requires that Express Entry candidates have at least six months of recent work experience in one of the\u00a0province\u2019s in-demand occupations<\/a>\u00a0and job seeker validation code in order to be eligible.<\/p>\n

To be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba, Express Entry candidates must first register an\u00a0Expression of Interest (EOI) profile<\/a>\u00a0with the MPNP.<\/p>\n

Profiles are ranked based on scores awarded for factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. Connections to Manitoba are also considered, such as a close relative or previous education or work\u00a0experience in the province.<\/p>\n

The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws from the pool.<\/p>\n

Express Entry candidates who apply for and receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points toward their\u00a0Express Entry ranking score<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MPNP also issued invitations to\u00a0Skilled Workers Overseas candidates\u00a0outside the Express Entry system in the December 20 draw.<\/p>\n
