I got a three-picture deal at Lifetime and I thought a Christmas movie would be the perfect way to come out and introduce it.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BncweuAluy4\/\">File Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tonibraxton\/\">@tonibraxton\/Instagram<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>NEW YORK \u2014 Toni Braxton has been nominated for Grammys again for her latest album, but these days the singer is also focusing on acting \u2014 and flexing her producing muscles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find that I really love everything about\u00a0film\u00a0and\u00a0film-making,\u201d the multiplatinum-singer said in a recent interview. \u201cI just really love movies, whether TV or anything that&#8217;s dealing with\u00a0film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Braxton, a seven-time Grammy winner nominated for three more Grammys earlier this month for her latest album \u201cSex &amp; Cigarettes,\u201d is currently starring in \u201cEvery Day Is Christmas\u201d on Lifetime. Inspired by the Charles Dickens classic, \u201cA Christmas Carol,\u201d the movie centres around Alexis Taylor, played by Braxton, as she gets the holiday visit of a lifetime. (\u201cEvery Day is Christmas\u201d is re-airing on Lifetime on Saturday and on Christmas Day.)<\/p>\n<p>A self-proclaimed workaholic who \u201chumbugs\u201d love, Alexis ends up embracing the spirit of Christmas when her past, present, and future collide, forcing her to risk the one thing money can&#8217;t buy: her heart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love Christmas movies,\u201d she said. \u201cHoliday time makes me feel happy and festive and excited. I got a three-picture deal at Lifetime and I thought a Christmas movie would be the perfect way to come out and introduce it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But not only is she working hard in front of the camera, she&#8217;s putting in sweat equity behind it. Braxton serves as an executive producer on the movie. She said she got \u201ca little taste\u201d of executive producing over the years \u201cbut now that I&#8217;ve bitten the apple, I want the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Braxton&#8217;s first\u00a0film\u00a0role was in 2001&#8217;s \u201cKingdom Come.\u201d Since then, she&#8217;s starred in several TV movies, including her own biopic, 2016&#8217;s \u201cToni Braxton: Un-Break My Heart\u201d and \u201cFaith Under Fire\u201d which premiered earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>But longtime fans shouldn&#8217;t be worried that Toni is swapping her music for movies.
