The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday, December 15, released the results of the drug test of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief, Director General Nicanor Faeldon, showing that the younger Faeldon tested negative for the use of illegal drugs.<\/p>\n

According to the laboratory findings, the urine samples of Nicanor Faeldon, Jr. were found “negative for the presence of methamphetamine (shabu) and tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) metabolites” which are both considered as dangerous drugs.<\/p>\n

While the younger Faeldon tested negative, his three companions — Russel Lanuzo Bermudo alias Bubbles, Allan Valdez, and Manuel Nebres — all tested positive for shabu but negative for cannabis.<\/p>\n

The four individuals were arrested by authorities on Friday, December 14, when it conducted a drug raid in a house in Barangay Mabolo, Naga City at around 5 a.m.<\/p>\n

Recovered from them were seven sachets of suspected shabu.<\/p>\n

The BuCor chief earlier said in an interview with ANC that he will not get himself involved in the investigation of his son.<\/p>\n

If Faeldon Jr. was proven guilty of using illegal drugs, the older Faeldon assured that he will leave his post immediately and hunt down his own flesh and blood.<\/p>\n

“Ako na ang paparusa d’yan\u00a0<\/i>(I myself will punish him).<\/i>\u00a0I would kill that idiot\u00a0kung\u00a0<\/i>involved\u00a0siya\u00a0<\/i>(if he is involved),” he said.<\/p>\n

Apart from saying that he will resign, the older Faeldon also offered to take a leave of absence while his son’s case is under investigation, but the Department of Justice (DOJ) chose to study first his offer.<\/p>\n

“The Department will have to study the matter, taking into consideration a number of facts, among which are: the Chief has just been recently appointed, and the independence and integrity of the investigation on the matter is not likely to be affected by his stay in the BuCor,” it explained.<\/p>\n

Before he took his oath as the director general of the BuCor in November, the older Faeldon served as the Customs chief but he resigned from his post following the controversy over the P6.4-billion worth of shabu that entered the country in 2017.<\/p>\n

President Rodrigo Duterte, however, keeps him in the government as he was next appointed as deputy administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).<\/p>\n
