The province of Manitoba has issued 530 new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to immigration candidates in its Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas streams.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A total of 317 invitations were issued under the\u00a0Skilled Workers Overseas Stream<\/a>in the December 5 draw and another 213 invitations went to\u00a0Skilled Workers in Manitoba<\/a>\u00a0candidates.<\/p>\n

Both streams are part of the\u00a0Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(MPNP), which allows the province to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for permanent residence each year.<\/p>\n

The December 5 draw included an unspecified number of invitations to candidates in the\u00a0federal Express Entry system<\/a>, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada\u2019s three main federal economic immigration programs \u2014 the\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker Class<\/a>,\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Class<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Canadian Experience Class<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MPNP has an\u00a0Express Entry-linked immigration pathway<\/a>\u00a0that is part of its Skilled Workers Overseas Stream and allows it to nominate eligible Express Entry candidates for permanent residence.<\/p>\n

Express Entry candidates who apply for and receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba are awarded an additional 600 points toward their\u00a0Express Entry ranking score<\/a>, which effectively guarantees an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.<\/p>\n

Among other criteria, Express Entry candidates must have at least six months of recent work experience in an occupation that is considered\u00a0in-demand in Manitoba<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In order to be considered for this pathway, Express Entry candidates must register an\u00a0Expression of Interest<\/a>\u00a0(EOI) profile with the MPNP.<\/p>\n

Profiles include information on a candidate\u2019s education, work experience, proficiency in English or French and other factors and are given\u00a0a score<\/a>, which determines their rank in the pool of eligible candidates.<\/p>\n

A set number of the highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws from Manitoba\u2019s EOI pool.<\/p>\n

The December 5 draw issued invitations to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates with scores as low as 596. The minimum score for foreign workers invited directly by the MPNP through a strategic recruitment initiative was 711.<\/p>\n
