The 47-year-old star is set to prove it to us again as she will take part in another musical masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">From slaying the role of Kim in the musical <em>Miss Saigon<\/em> to touching the hearts of audience when she played the roles of Eponine and Fantine in the musical <em>Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em> on Broadway, among many of her remarkable performances, Lea will be back on stage as the meat pie maker Mrs. Lovett, who bakes the &#8220;worst pie in London,&#8221; in Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group&#8217;s <i>Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;All good things come to those who can wait. We are proud to announce that Tony and Olivier Award-winning actress LEA SALONGA is set to star in SWEENEY TODD as Mrs. Lovett!&#8221; Atlantis Theatrical announced on Facebook on Saturday, December 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Learning about this great news, Lea said she could not express how electrified she is to be part of one of her favorite Stephen Sondheim&#8217;s musicals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;It pleases and tickles me to no end that I\u2019m finally old enough to play Mrs. Lovett! She is such a well-written, thoroughly fleshed-out character that\u2019s equal parts drama, comedy, music, and crazy. And I am all about the crazy,&#8221; Lea said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Broadway star, meanwhile on Twitter, wrote, &#8220;The cat\u2019s out of the bag!!! I can\u2019t wait to start working on this!!! To say that I\u2019m excited is an understatement!!! Woooooot!!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Her fans, who also could not contain their excitement about the announcement, showered Lea with their congratulatory messages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Directed by Atlantis Artistic Director Bobby Garcia, <i>Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street <\/i>will be held at The Theater at Solaire in October 2019, which culminates Atlantis&#8217; 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Lea will be joining Jett Pangan, who was chosen to play the role of Sweeney Todd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Not only known for her Broadway performances that left the audience in awe, Lea also became part of every girl&#8217;s childhood when she supplied the singing voices of Princess Jasmine from <i>Aladdin <\/i>and Fa Mulan of <i>Mulan <\/i>and <i>Mulan II<\/i>. Due to her excellent portrayal of the two Disney princesses, the Walt Disney Company recognized her as &#8220;Disney Legend&#8221; in August 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this, the Filipina celebrity also starred in some movies, one of which was\u00a0<em>Sana Maulit Muli<\/em>\u00a0along with Aga Muhlach, and was also one of the coaches in ABS-CBN&#8217;s singing competition,\u00a0<em>The Voice of the Philippines.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lea Salonga has shown to us many times already that she is indeed a world-class treasure.
