That is why we continue to make strategic investments to help Canadians make greener choices and encourage widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EV).<\/p>\n<p>Member of Parliament for Northumberland\u2013Peterborough South, Kim Rudd, on behalf<b>\u00a0<\/b>of Canada\u2019s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, today announced a $2-million investment in Sky Solar Canada Ltd. for a total of 12 solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations at five sites across Ontario. Three of the sites are located in Cobourg, one in Markham and one in Oxford Station.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the charging stations are bi-directional, which means they will also be able to deliver energy from the battery to the electricity grid. The demonstration project will help identify economic benefits of bi-directional charging.<\/p>\n<p>This funding is part of our government\u2019s $182.5-million investment to grow Canada\u2019s electric vehicle infrastructure<b>\u00a0<\/b>to make using electric and other alternative fuel vehicles easier and more convenient for Canadians.<\/p>\n<p>Through Canada\u2019s national energy dialogue,\u00a0<u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrcan.gc.ca\/20093\">Generation Energy<\/a><\/u>, Canadians made it clear that the transition to electric vehicles and lower-carbon fuel alternatives is not a luxury but a necessity for Canada\u2019s low-carbon future.
