MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes decided to uphold Bacoor\u2019s contest in the unfair judgement of Mac Montilla\u2019s shot made at 9:19 in the third period that crew chief Jay Castroverde reversed from a two-pointer to a three-pointer at the last seven minutes of the fourth quarter. (Photo<\/a>: Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League<\/a>\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>Senator Manny Pacquiao\u2019s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) announced the cancellation of the Para\u00f1aque Patriots\u2019 overtime win against the Bacoor Strikers that occurred last November 15. The score ended at 82-81 in favor of the Patriots.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an announcement made last Tuesday, November 27, MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes decided to uphold Bacoor\u2019s contest in the unfair judgement of Mac Montilla\u2019s shot made at 9:19 in the third period that crew chief Jay Castroverde reversed from a two-pointer to a three-pointer at the last seven minutes of the fourth quarter. <\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of, referee Castroverde\u2019s misjudgment led to his 10-day suspension from calling games at the league, as well as a P5,000 fine. In addition, the match is removed from the standings of both teams, and in reference to the FIBA rulebook, will only be replayed at the end of the elimination round if it has bearing on the entry of either team into the playoffs. Item no.15 of the regulations states, \u201cGames stopped at the halftime mark onward will resume with remaining time and scores, fouls, timeout continuous until the conclusion of the game. Furthermore, the players who were present when the game was stopped will only be allowed to play when the continuation of the game was rescheduled,\u201d Commissioner Kenneth clarifying, \u201cShould there be no more bearing in their standings, there will be no need for a rematch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Para\u00f1aque will see action next against the Marikina Shoemasters on Wednesday, November 28, while Bacoor\u2019s next game is at their homecourt Strike Gymnasium on December 4, as they go against the undefeated Bataan Risers.
