When it does reopen, it won&#8217;t be at its full capacity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Nav\u00a0Canada\u00a0spokesman Ron Singer said Monday the plane did \u201csignificant damage\u201d to the airport&#8217;s instrument landing system (ILS), which provides horizontal and vertical guidance.<\/p>\n<p>That equipment needs be repaired and tested, which won&#8217;t be done until at least early next week, or later if weather is bad, he said.<\/p>\n<p>But he noted the ILS is mostly used when there is a low ceiling or low visibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlanes could land without the ILS if the weather conditions are favourable,\u201d Singer said.<\/p>\n<p>Rath Spicer said flights had returned to normal after the incident, but that travel was disrupted by high winds and snow last week and it remains \u201ccontingent on weather, particularly wind direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said a complete engineering review needs to be done to make sure the runway was not damaged, though an initial inspection after the accident didn&#8217;t identify any damage to the surface.<\/p>\n<p>The Transportation Safety Board of\u00a0Canada\u00a0is investigating the crash of the SkyLease Cargo plane, which left four crew members with injuries that were said to be minor.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft was significantly damaged after it slid 210 metres off the end of Runway 14 in rainy conditions while being buffeted by a crosswind with a potential tailwind.<\/p>\n<p>Flight KKE 4854, which had arrived from Chicago just after 5 a.m. after a two-and-a-half hour flight, was to be loaded with live lobster destined for China.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Halifax&#8217;s international airport won&#8217;t regain full use of both its runways until at least next week, after an overshoot that &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":190367,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[18,16],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-190365","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news-ca","category-news","mauthors-the-canadian-press"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/190365","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=190365"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/190365\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/190367"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=190365"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=190365"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=190365"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
