(Photo: Meunierd\/Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Atlantic Canada province of Nova Scotia will reopen one of its most popular Express Entry-linked provincial nomination categories on Saturday, November 17, at 9 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time for up to 225 applications.\u00a0\u00a0<span id=\"more-11470\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This category is extremely popular with eligible candidates in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry system<\/a>\u00a0because it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provides successful candidates with a provincial nomination and an additional 600 ranking points, effectively guaranteeing an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>does not<\/strong>\u00a0require a Canadian job offer or Canadian work experience.<\/li>\n<li>has no minimum\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS)<\/a>\u00a0score requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This first-come, first-served category, known as Category B of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/nova-scotia-demand-express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream<\/a>, usually reaches its intake limit quickly. When it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2018\/04\/nova-scotia-express-entry-stream-to-accept-350-applications-april-28-0410584.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last opened<\/a>\u00a0on the morning of April 28, 2018, it reached its quota and closed to new applications that afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Scotia\u2019s Office of Immigration typically only gives around 24 hours notice that the stream will reopen to applications. In the case of the November 17 intake, notice was only provided on the morning of November 16.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, it is always a good idea to be<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-improve-your-crs-score.html#proactiveprep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0prepared<\/a>\u00a0and have the documents that are needed to apply in hand so you can act quickly if and when Category B reopens.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must have work experience in one of Nova Scotia\u2019s 11\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/nova-scotia-demand-express-entry.html#OpportunityOccupations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener\">opportunity occupations<\/a>, among other eligibility criteria. She has been working as licensed practical nurse (NOC 3233) for four years outside Canada. She holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree and two-year certificate. \u00a0Amira never worked or studied in Canada. Amira scores 67 points under Nova Scotia point system and has an Express Entry CRS score of 380.<\/p>\n<p>Amira successfully applies under Category B and receives a nomination from Nova Scotia. With the additional 600 CRS points that Amira receives for her nomination from Nova Scotia, her Express Entry ranking score rises to 980.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0Melanie<\/strong>\u00a0are 35 and 38 years old, respectively. They both hold Bachelor\u2019s degrees from post-secondary institutions outside Canada. Kevin has four years of work experience as an Administrative Assistant (NOC 1241) and Melanie has worked as a Librarian for three years outside Canada. Kevin has an English language proficiency equivalent to a CLB 7 under all language abilities. Melanie\u2019s English language proficiency is equivalent to a CLB 5. Kevin and Melanie score 67 points under Nova Scotia\u2019s point system.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin has an active Express Entry profile and is the principal applicant. Combined their CRS score is 296.<\/p>\n<p>If Kevin successfully submits an application to Nova Scotia during tomorrow\u2019s opening and obtains a provincial nomination, their combined CRS score will increase to 896 points. This effectively guarantees them an ITA in a future Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n<p>Category A of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream remains open. Applicants to this category must have an arranged job offer supported by a positive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/labour-market-impact-assessments.html\" rel=\"alternate\">Labour Market Impact Assessment<\/a>\u00a0from a Nova Scotia employer.
