{"id":18749,"date":"2014-07-10T20:42:08","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T12:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=18749"},"modified":"2014-07-10T18:44:09","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T10:44:09","slug":"father-of-girl-missing-in-estevan-for-a-decade-says-hes-angry-at-rcmp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/07\/10\/father-of-girl-missing-in-estevan-for-a-decade-says-hes-angry-at-rcmp\/","title":{"rendered":"Father of girl missing in Estevan for a decade says he\u2019s angry at RCMP"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_18750\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18750\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/527531.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18750\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/527531.jpg\" alt=\"Photo from Missing Children Society of Canada\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/527531.jpg 620w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/527531-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18750\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo from Missing Children Society of Canada<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>ESTEVAN, Sask.\u2014The father of a missing girl who police believe was murdered a decade ago says he hasn\u2019t been kept up on developments in the case, adding he thinks RCMP still consider him a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Struble told News Talk Radio in Saskatchewan that he\u2019s upset RCMP didn\u2019t include him in a plea to the public for any information they might have.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, his ex-wife Joy Struble spoke to the media about her grief at the loss of her daughter, 13-year-old Courtney Struble, who disappeared while walking home in Estevan, Sask., on July 9, 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Struble says the girl had been living with him at the time because she wasn\u2019t getting along with her mother, adding he and Joy had split up years before.<\/p>\n<p>He says he believes undercover officers have tried to get him to confess \u201cto something I never did\u201d and says he may have been the focus of a sting operation last summer.<\/p>\n<p>RCMP won\u2019t say whether they had a suspect or person of interest in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Struble says last summer a group of men claimed to have a flat tire on a trailer in front of his home and he went out to help them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were doing, I think it\u2019s called a character profile,\u201d he says. \u201cI used to watch a lot of CSI and stuff, so you know what they\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He says all he is asking is to be kept in the loop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFine, you think I\u2019m the suspect, but you know, I\u2019m the father. I deserve to know as much as everybody else does,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s bad when the whole of Saskatchewan knows before the father knows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark Struble admits he has been in trouble with the law in the past\u2014though he declined to describe the nature of his criminal record\u2014but says that was in his late teens and early twenties.<\/p>\n<p>He says he did not harm his daughter: \u201cMy two kids are the only things I\u2019ve really done right in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RCMP would not comment on Struble\u2019s concerns.
