(Pixabay photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Four new 2018 records have been set in October for the most invitations issued so far this year through provincial immigration streams in Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia.\u00a0<span id=\"more-11330\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many of the streams involved are linked to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal Express Entry system<\/a>, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada\u2019s three main economic immigration program \u2014 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/federal-skilled-worker-program-fswp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Worker Class<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-federal-skilled-trades-program-fstc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Trades Class<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canadian-experience-class.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Experience Class<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most Canadian provinces and territories have a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/provincial-nomination-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0that allows them nominate a set number of immigrants for Canadian permanent residence each year. Each program has a number of immigration streams, some that are linked to Express Entry and others that are not.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination benefit from\u00a0an additional 600 points toward their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) score, which determines their position in the Express Entry pool of candidates.<\/p>\n<p>The additional 600 points for a provincial nomination effectively guarantee Express Entry candidates an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-invitation-to-apply-for-permanent-residence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invitation to Apply<\/a>\u00a0for Canadian permanent residence.<\/p>\n<h3>Prince Edward Island<\/h3>\n<p>The Atlantic Canada province of Prince Edward Island has an Express Entry-linked immigration stream that does not require candidates to have a job offer in the province.<\/p>\n<p>This popular stream was part of an October 18 draw by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/prince-edward-island-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Edward Island\u2019s Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0saw a 2018 high of 270 invitations issued, surpassing the previous high of 152 invitations set in April.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in PEI\u2019s non-Express Entry\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/prince-edward-island-provincial-nominee-program.html#LabourImpactCategory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour Impact<\/a>\u00a0categories were also issued invitations to apply in this draw.<\/p>\n<p>The PEI PNP employs an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.princeedwardisland.ca\/en\/service\/submit-your-expression-interest-profile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expression of Interest (EOI) system<\/a>\u00a0typically requires interested candidates to submit a profile detailing their work experience, education, language skills and other factors.<\/p>\n<p>Profiles are given a score based on the details provided and eligible profiles are entered into the pool of candidates for the selected category.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence through monthly draws.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates may be invited to apply with or without a job in the province, and there have been cases when the PEI PNP will contact Express Entry candidates who have not submitted an EOI to the province but who may be a match for labour market needs in the province.<\/p>\n<h3>Saskatchewan<\/h3>\n<p>Another 2018 high was set this month in the Province of Saskatchewan, located in Canada\u2019s Prairie region, in a draw through one of its popular\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-provincial-nominee-program.html#InternationalSkilledWorkerCategory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Skilled Worker<\/a>\u00a0sub-categories.<\/p>\n<p>The draw, held October 10, issued 494 invitations to candidates in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-OccupationsIn-Demand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Occupation In-Demand<\/a>\u00a0pool \u2014 the most issued through the sub-category in a single draw since Saskatchewan switched it to an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-expression-of-interest-eoi-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expression of Interest system<\/a>\u00a0in July.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates are not required to have a job offer in Saskatchewan in order to be eligible for this stream, which is not aligned with Express Entry. Candidates are required to have\u00a0work experience in one of the 20 occupations found on Saskatchewan\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#In-DemandOccupationList\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In-Demand Occupations List,<\/a>\u00a0among other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-OccupationsIn-Demand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criteria.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A parallel draw also held October 10 issued 359 invitations to candidates in the International Skilled Worker\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-SaskatchewanExpressEntry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0sub-category, which also does not require a job offer in order to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry candidates must also have work experience in a high-skilled occupation that\u2019s considered\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#In-DemandOccupationList\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in-demand<\/a>in the province, among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-SaskatchewanExpressEntry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other criteria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of Ontario\u2019s three Express Entry-linked streams also held its largest draw so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>Ontario is Canada\u2019s most populous province and its capital, Toronto, is Canada\u2019s largest and most culturally diverse city. The province\u2019s booming tech industry is proving an increasingly popular draw for highly skilled workers, who have been targeted by Express Entry draws.<\/p>\n<p>On October 19, Ontario\u2019s Express Entry-aligned\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/ontario-express-entry-skilled-trades-stream.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skilled Trades Stream<\/a>\u00a0issued\u00a0439 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence on October 19.<\/p>\n<p>This was by far the most invitations issued in a single draw this year through the stream, which has now issued 1,445 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination from Ontario to Express Entry candidates in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Skilled Trades Stream allows Ontario to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates currently living in the province who meet the eligibility requirements for the Canadian Experience Class.<\/p>\n<p>Among other criteria, candidates must have a minimum of one year full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work, in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/ontario-express-entry-skilled-trades-stream.html#Occupations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a skilled trade listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82<\/a>\u00a0of Canada\u2019s National Occupational Classification (NOC).<\/p>\n<p>The Skilled Trades Stream does not require a minimum Express Entry CRS score.<\/p>\n<h3>British Columbia<\/h3>\n<p>On October 17, British Columbia held its largest draw so far this year, issuing 472 invitations to candidates in a number of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program.html#SkillsImmigration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skills Immigration<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-british-columbia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Entry<\/a>categories.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(BC PNP) holds draws approximately every two weeks for candidates in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Entry Level \/ Semi-Skilled categories of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program.html#SkillsImmigration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skills Immigration Stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most Skills Immigration and B.C. Express Entry categories require a valid job offer from an employer in the province in order to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in the Express Entry BC Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories are also invited through these bi-weekly draws.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who would like to be considered by the BC PNP through these economic immigration programs must first register through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-skills-immigration-registration-system-sirs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skills Immigration Registration System<\/a>\u00a0(SIRS).<\/p>\n<p>The SIRS serves as an Expression of Interest system and issues a ranking score based on the BC PNP\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-skills-immigration-registration-system-sirs.html#SIRSscoringsystem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unique points grid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em>Looking for more information on Canada\u2019s Provincial Nominee Programs?
