{"id":187033,"date":"2018-10-26T04:24:20","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T08:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=187033"},"modified":"2018-10-26T04:24:20","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T08:24:20","slug":"niagaras-pearl-morissette-eatery-tops-enroutes-best-new-restaurants-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/10\/26\/niagaras-pearl-morissette-eatery-tops-enroutes-best-new-restaurants-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Niagara&#8217;s Pearl Morissette eatery tops enRoute&#8217;s best new restaurants list"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_187034\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-187034\" style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-187034 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"943\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2-768x362.jpg 768w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tastings2-1024x483.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-187034\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cIt&#8217;s great to see some of our peers who are also getting recognized who are doing things that we&#8217;re really excited about.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/pearlmorissette.com\/images\/v2\/tastings2.jpg\">File Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/pearlmorissette.com\/\">Pearl Morissette page<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>TORONTO \u2014\u00a0Canada&#8217;s best new restaurant sits on the second floor of a barn in Niagara wine country, according to Air\u00a0Canada&#8217;s enRoute magazine.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Top 10 list crowns The Restaurant at Pearl Morissette, just west of St. Catharines, Ont., for a prix-fixe menu featuring ingredients largely grown on or foraged from the surrounding land.<\/p>\n<p>The winery restaurant is followed by two Montreal eateries \u2014 the Italian wine bar Vin Mon Lapin, which the Joe Beef team opened earlier this spring, and the wood-fired pizzeria Elena.<\/p>\n<p>The Pearl Morissette triumph follows rave reviews for an ever-changing multi-course menu inspired by seasonal French cooking.<\/p>\n<p>Chef Daniel Hadida said he and partner Eric Robertson take pride in serving fresh, high quality ingredients from small-scale organic farms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s always exciting to get recognized for hard work,\u201d Hadida said Wednesday before an awards ceremony announced the winner, adding that the rest of the Top 10 included other chefs with a similar ethos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s great to see some of our peers who are also getting recognized who are doing things that we&#8217;re really excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top 5 is the haute French cuisine of St. Lawrence in Vancouver and the classic Italian fare of Toronto&#8217;s Giulietta.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re followed by Aloette in Toronto, the more casual spinoff of the fine-cuisine Alo; Regina&#8217;s Avenue from \u201cTop Chef\u00a0Canada\u201d winner Dale MacKay; and the small-plate dishes of Bundok in Edmonton.<\/p>\n<p>The list is rounded out by the seafood bar Sand and Pearl in Ontario&#8217;s scenic Prince Edward County, and the Victoria dining destination The Courtney Room, an extension of The Magnolia Hotel &amp;
