(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PhilippineRugby\/photos\/pcb.2066300713394737\/2066300673394741\/?type=3&amp;theater\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PhilippineRugby\/\">Philippine Rugby &#8211; Philippine National Volcanoes Team\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lady Volcanoes, representing the Philippines, won second place last Sunday, October 21 at the 2018 Asia Trophy Series in Brunei.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Team Philippines was on an undefeated run with all five games during the two-day competition, but eventually lost to Malaysia, the first place winners, during the final match.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malaysia Coach Nik Ismade is surprised with the result, saying, \u201cWe can\u2019t believe we have actually won the final,\u201d while Philippine team skipper Helena Indigne shared, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final match was very tough as we\u2019re expecting it to be. We played our hearts and minds out; it just happens we didn\u2019t get the final trophy but I believe our team did everything we could as individuals and as a team to get where we are and we\u2019re very grateful.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonetheless, Coach Ada Milby \u201ccouldn\u2019t be more proud of how the team performed overall, although [they] wish the final result was different.\u201d He stated, \u201cNot only is the best result the team has ever had in a single tournament, the entire team was composed of Philippine homegrown players,\u201d retrospectively speaking that, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was a fantastic weekend for women\u2019s rugby in Asia to see 10 teams represented in this tournament\u2014the most we\u2019ve ever had competing for the trophy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team\u2019s first game was against Uzbekistan, which they beat 12-10, then Pakistan, who scored no points against the Filipinos. The Lady Volcanoes then ended their first day of the tournament against India at 17-10.
