(File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/davaocitygov\/photos\/a.677286965656162\/1723154744402707\/?type=3&amp;amp;theater\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/davaocitygov\">City Government of Davao\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The relations of the executive and legislative branches of government will not be affected by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte\u2019s role in the ouster of former House of Representatives Speaker Pantaleon &#8220;Bebot&#8221; Alvarez, Malaca\u00f1ang said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHindi naman<\/em>\u00a0(It will not),\u201d Presidential Spokesperson and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said when asked in a radio interview if the presidential daughter\u2019s action would ruin the Palace\u2019s relations with the House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kasi,<\/em>\u00a0ultimately whoever suggested the ouster,\u00a0<em>ang magde<\/em>-decide\u00a0<em>pa rin ang<\/em>\u00a0members\u00a0<em>ng Kongreso<\/em>\u00a0(Because, ultimately whoever suggested the ouster, it is still the Congress members who decide),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During Thursday\u2019s 44th Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC&amp;E) Concluding Ceremony at the Manila Hotel, President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that his daughter Sara &#8220;operated&#8221; the ouster of Alvarez more than three months ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Talagang ano yan si<\/em>\u00a0Inday (Inday is really), so be careful with that woman. She operated in Davao as mayor.\u00a0<em>Tingnan mo nangyari sa<\/em>\u00a0Congress,\u00a0<em>\u2018di natanggal si<\/em>\u00a0(Look at what happened in Congress, [Alvarez] was ousted),\u201d Duterte said in his speech.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte, however, clarified that he had nothing to do with Alvarez\u2019s ouster despite the former Speaker\u2019s statements last year that he can impeach the President.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBebot, he&#8217;s a close friend of mine. I will support him.<em>\u00a0Pero siguro<\/em>\u00a0(But perhaps) in&#8230; \u2018Oh I can also impeach him,\u2019 referring to me,\u201d Duterte said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPara sa atin wala &#8216;yan. Bale wala &#8216;yan politiko. Bakit mo ako i<\/em>-impeach?<em>\u00a0Magkaibigan tayo<\/em>. (For us politicians, that\u2019s nothing. Why will you impeach me? We\u2019re friends.) That&#8217;s the usual answer.
