Renowned Director Erik Matti gives Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano an official farewell after five years of working on superhero film \u201cDarna\u201d together.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an Instagram post on Direk Erik\u2019s Instagram, the two are seen at a dinner table joined by Liza\u2019s manager Ogie Diaz, captioned, \u201cThank you for this dinner. If there\u2019s anyone who deserves a proper goodbye, it\u2019s you Liza Soberano. Hoping to work with you in the future. Now go fly and kick some villain\u2019s butt!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Matti, known for his films \u201cBuy Bust\u201d and \u201cOTJ\u201d has worked with Liza for the past five years on the modern adaptation of \u201cDarna,\u201d produced by Star Cinema. <\/span><\/p>\n

He initially expressed to the public how important the superhero is for him, referencing his first project in the industry \u201cas continuity supervisor for Peque Gallaga\u2019s Darna with Anjanette Abayari.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

In Erik Matti\u2019s words, \u201c<\/span>Doing this modern reboot of the classic superhero, I feel that I have come full circle in this industry.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

However, he announced on October 4 that he had to bow down from the job due to \u201ccreative differences.\u201d He released a statement that read, \u201c<\/span>As it has been announced, I have officially resigned from the movie Darna. It\u2019s been 5 years and how I wish I could have finished it after all the hard work that went into preparing and putting it together. Unfortunately, things didn\u2019t work out ideally for both parties.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
