MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Preparations for the first-ever state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Philippines next month are underway.<\/p>\n

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua made this remark in his courtesy call to President Rodrigo Duterte at Malaca\u00f1ang Palace last Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina would work with the Philippine team to make comprehensive preparations and planning for the upcoming high-level exchanges between the countries,\u201d Zhao said in a statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said the Philippine team has also assured full preparations to ensure a \u201csafe, smooth and completely successful visit.<\/p>\n

Duterte, on the other hand, has also extended his warm greetings to Xi, whom he invited to come to the Philippines when he visited Beijing in October 2016.<\/p>\n
