Ciriaco Calalang, 67, passed away early Sunday after suffering from a massive stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Kabayan Partylist chair and Rep. Ron Salo confirmed Calalang&#8217;s death in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rep. Calalang&#8217;s public service as a congressman was brief but it was time and energies well-spent. He was able to author and co-author 47 house measures and helped raise public awareness about KABAYAN&#8217;s platform and his key advocacies on juvenile justice, education, senior citizens, criminal justice, public transportation, and land use,&#8221; Salo said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rep. Calalang was the good, favorite uncle within KABAYAN. We will miss him dearly,&#8221; Salo added.<\/p>\n<p>Calalang was confined at the De Los Santos Medical Center where he underwent surgery on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his three adopted children.<\/p>\n<p>His public wake will be at the St. Peter Memorial Chapels along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City starting Wednesday at 5PM.<\/p>\n<p>Calalang, a law professor and taxation lawyer, was sworn in as congressman on January 20 to replace former Kabayan Rep.
