(PNA file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; With only more than a month until Boracay Island reopens to the public, President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday emphasized the importance of limiting the tourist destination\u2019s carrying capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot all Filipinos and all tourists can go to Boracay. It cannot accommodate everyone,\u201d Duterte said in Cebuano during his visit to landslide victims in Naga City, Cebu province.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it\u2019s a house, it would be similar to having just one comfort room for a thousand people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The President, however, assured the public that the inter-agency task force assigned to oversee the rehabilitation of Boracay is continuously studying the best way to manage the island.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he also complimented the ongoing rehabilitation efforts in the island, noting that Boracay now looks better than before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it looks good,\u201d Duterte said. He earlier said he intends to visit Boracay one of these days.<\/p>\n<p>The task force is composed of the departments of environment, interior, and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are still trying to see, still studying how to best manage it,\u201d Duterte said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu said Boracay\u2019s carrying capacity for tourists will be limited to 19,215 a day.
