Razon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The prices of basic goods such as water, sardines, noodles, among others will not increase in the next three months, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo allayed fears of consumers that rising inflation and the tax reform for acceleration and inclusion (TRAIN) law would also cause a spike in the prices of basic goods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo allay the fears of our consumers,\u00a0<em>kasi maraming nagsasabi tataas ang presyo bigla or tatalon \u2018yan, pag natapos iyong<\/em>\u00a0three-month period (because there are many saying it will suddenly increase or jump after the three-month period),\u201d Castelo said.<\/p>\n<p>She said the DTI has convinced manufacturers of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) to hold off price increases for the next three months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Na-<\/em>convince<em>\u00a0natin sila at pumayag sila<\/em>\u00a0(We were able to convince them and they agreed) \u2013 some committed three months; some committed six months; some committed nine months,\u201d Castelo said in a Palace briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAssured\u00a0<em>ang<\/em>\u00a0consumers (are assured) that for the next three months,\u00a0<em>hindi gagalaw ang presyo ng<\/em>\u00a0BNPCs\u00a0<em>nila<\/em>\u00a0(the prices of their BNPCs will not change),\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Castelo said the following BNPCs will have fixed prices: canned sardines, noodles, milk, bottled water, canned meat, detergent, and bath soaps.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that all price increases have to be first approved by the DTI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will have to submit data before they can change the market price or\u00a0<em>iyong presyo sa<\/em>\u00a0retail \u2013<em>\u00a0doon sa panibagong<\/em>\u00a0SRP list<em>\u00a0iyon<\/em>\u00a0(the retail&#8211;new standard retail price list),\u201d Castelo said.<\/p>\n<p>Castelo added that the DTI has also convinced the Department of Agriculture (DA) to issue SRPs on some agricultural products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ito iyong<\/em>\u00a0agricultural products\u00a0<em>niya na may<\/em>\u00a0(These agricultural products with) SRP, and hopefully will be enforced.
