This means that all candidates with a CRS score above 440, as well as those candidates with scores of 440 who submitted their profile\u00a0before this specified date and time, received an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-invitation-to-apply-for-permanent-residence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Invitation to Apply<\/a>\u00a0(ITA) in this invitation round.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Express Entry system<\/a>\u00a0manages the profiles of candidates in Canada\u2019s three main federal economic immigration categories \u2014 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/federal-skilled-worker-program-fswp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Skilled Worker Class<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-federal-skilled-trades-program-fstc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Skilled Trades Class<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canadian-experience-class.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Experience Class<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates are ranked according to their\u00a0CRS\u00a0score and the highest-ranked candidates are issued an\u00a0ITA\u00a0through regular invitation rounds.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s draw broke the trend of issuing 3,750 ITAs that was first established by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on June 13 and characterized the six draws held since then.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout 2018, IRCC has issued a set number of ITAs over a series of draws, and then raised the number of ITAs by increments of 250 or 500. Draw sizes began at 2,750 at the start of 2018 and have increased incrementally to the current size of 3,900 ITAs.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11134\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11134 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/4597wq4asyz01jes8rz3yr94-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ITAs-Issued-in-Express-Entry-Draws-2018-1-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">*The May 30 draws were program-specific.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The regular pace of these larger draws since June 13 could be helping keep the CRS score at 440 and preventing it from going higher. Larger draw sizes, and more regular draws, can also have the effect of lowering CRS scores.<\/p>\n<p>There are several ways for Express Entry candidates to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry-improve-your-crs-score.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">improve their scores<\/a>, including a provincial nomination that results in 600 additional CRS points. Express Entry-linked\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/provincial-nomination-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)<\/a>\u00a0have been extremely active and innovative in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC has now issued a total of 58,600 ITAs over 18 draws in 2018, which puts it slightly ahead of the 57,751 ITAs that were issued over the first 18 draws of 2017. However, IRCC had issued 63,777 ITAs in 2017 by this same point in September. This leaves IRCC 5,177 ITAs behind last year\u2019s pace.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 86,023 ITAs were issued in 2017. Given Canada\u2019s increased\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-multi-year-immigration-plan-2018-to-2020.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">admission targets for both 2018 and 2019<\/a>, it remains possible that this year\u2019s total could surpass the number of ITAs issued in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-11133 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/4597wq4asyz01jes8rz3yr94-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ITAs-express-entry-draw-98-Targets-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The following hypothetical examples illustrate candidates who would have obtained an ITA in today\u2019s draw:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dev<\/strong>\u00a0is 36, has a Master\u2019s degree, an advanced English language proficiency and has been working as a management consultant for six years. While Dev has never worked or studied in Canada, his CRS score of 443 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA in today\u2019s draw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ada<\/strong>\u00a0is 34 and obtained her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Canada. Ada has been working in Canada as a graphic designer for two years. \u00a0Prior to studying in Canada, Ada worked as a retail supervisor for three years. Ada wrote her IELTS and scored a 6 in each category. Ada\u2019s CRS score of 442 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA during the most recent Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sai<\/strong>\u00a0is 31, has a Bachelor\u2019s degree, and has been working as a cook for five years. He wrote his IELTS and obtained an 8 in each category. While Sai has never worked or studied in Canada, he has a sister who is a permanent resident of Canada residing in Vancouver. His CRS of 442 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA in the September 5 draw.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been waiting to see if IRCC would increase the number of Express Entry candidates invited, given the increased admissions targets for both 2018 and 2019,\u201d said David Cohen, senior partner with the Cambell, Cohen Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that IRCC once again has increased the number of ITAs, we\u2019ll see if it continues this trend throughout the fall.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The CRS Calculator<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/comprehensive-ranking-score-calculator.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CRS Calculator<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0allows you to find out what your score would be under the CRS.<\/p>\n<h3>Tips for improving your CRS score<\/h3>\n<p>There are a number of ways Express Entry candidates may be able to improve their ranking.
