(Pixabay photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Pour lire cet article en fran\u00e7ais,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2018\/09\/un-nouveau-portail-electronique-aide-les-immigrants-au-quebec-a-naviguer-le-processus-de-reconnaissance-des-qualifications-0911140.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cliquez ici<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A new information portal has been created to help immigration candidates and immigrants to Quebec with questions about getting their foreign credentials recognized for employment in the province.<span id=\"more-11126\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Developed with funding from Quebec\u2019s Immigration Ministry, known as MIDI,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualificationsquebec.com\/reconnaissance-competences\/profession\/ingenieurs-civils-ingenieures-civiles\/quebec\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">qualificationsquebec.com<\/a>\u00a0allows users to determine if their profession is regulated and, if so, what\u2019s required in order to have their education, training and work experience assessed and recognized and the organizations responsible for doing so.<\/p>\n<p>Another feature of the new portal is information on job prospects for one\u2019s profession in the various regions of Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>Counselors are also available either online or by phone to assist visitors with their search for information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur counselors can guide you to the most relevant resources and services to recognize all or part of your education and competencies,\u201d the website\u2019s contact page reads.<\/p>\n<p>All the information on the current Beta version of the portal is in French, but users who wish to contact a counselor are invited to do so in English.<\/p>\n<p>The portal taps the expertise of a group previously called Qualification Montr\u00e9al, which for years provided similar services in the Montreal area. MIDI funding has now allowed the organization to expand its mandate and provide its services across Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>MIDI describes the expanded mandate of Qualifications Qu\u00e9bec as:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>facilitating the recognition of skills by institutions in Quebec\u2019s education and higher education network, professional orders and other regulatory agencies;<\/li>\n<li>promote skills recognition services;<\/li>\n<li>offer training and intervention tools to those engaged in the field of skills recognition;<\/li>\n<li>set up intervention teams, in consultation with relevant partners, which can propose solutions to specific problems that may arise in the recognition of skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A news release says the aim is to have the portal capable of providing information on 500 trades and professions in French and English.<\/p>\n<p>The new portal is a collaborative effort between Qualifications Qu\u00e9bec, MIDI, Quebec\u2019s Ministry of Education and Higher Learning and its Ministry of Work, Employment and Social Solidarity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great initiative, one that will hopefully serve as a model for other provinces,\u201d said David Cohen, senior partner at the Campbell, Cohen Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pour lire cet article en fran\u00e7ais,\u00a0cliquez ici.
