Brace yourselves for the queen has spoken.<\/p>\n<p>The beauty pageant community and its fans have been buzzing different sentiments and views about transgender women\u2019s participation in the prestigious Miss Universe.<\/p>\n<p>Philippines\u2019 representatives in different beauty pageants in the country and globally had their fair share of perception on the subject, and this time, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, or as some netizens brand her, the <em>queen<\/em> spoke up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have to remember that that\u2019s a lifelong process for you to become a transgender and for you to identify as a woman,\u201d she said in an exclusive interview with Philippines\u2019 Ultimate Showbiz Hub (PUSH).<\/p>\n<p>According to the beauty queen, she always knew that transgender women were allowed to join and win the Miss Universe pageant and that she admires the resilience and strength of these transgender contestants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Hindi naman \u2018yan like<\/em> (It is not like) one day she just decided <em>na<\/em> (that), \u2018You know what, today I\u2019m going to be a woman. I want to be a Miss Universe.\u2019 It\u2019s not like that. For all we know, <em>baka sa pagkabata pa lang niya<\/em> (maybe it is something that rooted from childhood),\u201d Pia continued.<\/p>\n<p>The subject of transgender contestants competing has been the talk of the town ever since Spain made history after crowning Angela Ponce as the first transgender woman to win the title of Miss Universe-Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Philippines\u2019 representative to the prestigious pageant Catriona Gray, has earlier mentioned in a previous interview with ABS-CBN that such topic is an \u201cuproar\u201d among pageant fans because it is a \u201cvery young discussion about the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) and especially coming from a traditional [view] in the arena of pageantry.\u201d However, she stressed that she does not have any problem with competing with a transgender.<\/p>\n<p>[READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/07\/04\/catriona-gray-says-shes-fine-competing-with-a-transwoman-in-miss-universe\/\">Catriona Gray says she\u2019s fine competing with a transwoman in Miss Universe<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that contestant who may be transgender can go through the casting process, become a candidate, get judging, and earn the right to represent her country, then why not?\u201d the beauty queen uttered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho are we to say, \u2018You know that\u2019s wrong.\u2019 I mean it\u2019s the discretion <em>talaga<\/em> of the organization,\u201d Catriona added.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the Philippines\u2019 bet this year, what does the queen think of Catriona?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we have a very good chance at Miss Universe with her. She\u2019s a very well-rounded person, <em>sobrang ganda, matangkad <\/em>(really beautiful, tall) proud to be Filipino.
