(Shutterstock photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 The Philippine peso opened the week stronger against the greenback, while local shares ended little changed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The local currency finished the day at 53.4 from Friday\u2019s finish of 53.42, data from the Philippine Dealing &amp; Exchange Corp. showed.<br \/>\nIt opened the day at 53.35 and reached a peak of 53.32.<\/p>\n<p>The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi), on the other hand, closed to 7,186.62 points, down 0.09 points or 0.001 percent from 7,186.71 points Friday.<\/p>\n<p>PSE data showed the broader All Shares declined by 2.04 points or 0.05 percent to settle at 4,385.30 points.<\/p>\n<p>Half of the sectoral indices tracked the main gauge with Industrial registering a 0.98 percent-loss; followed by Mining and Oil, which dipped 0.40 percent; and Services, down 0.17 percent.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Holding Firms, Financials, and Property registered upticks of 0.42 percent, 0.13 percent, and 0.02 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Volume of transaction for the day reached 606.512 million shares amounting to PHP3.38 billion.<\/p>\n<p>105 losers outnumbered 81 gainers, while 49 shares were unchanged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0\u2014 The Philippine peso opened the week stronger against the greenback, while local shares ended little changed on Monday.
