(PNA photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; The two newly-commissioned PT Dirgantara NC212i light-lift fixed-wing aircraft will help the military uphold the country&#8217;s sovereignty and patrimony.<\/p>\n<p>This was emphasized by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana during the turn-over ceremonies of the aircraft at the Haribon Hangar, Air Force City, Clark Air Base, Pampanga Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The turnover of these two light-lift-fixed wing aircraft signify the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to a level where it can effectively and fully perform its constitutional mandate to uphold the sovereignty and preserve the patrimony of the country,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzana said the NC212i can help the military in protecting the Filipino people from man-made and natural threats and calamities.<\/p>\n<p>The said aircraft was acquired under the Light Lift Fixed-Wing Acquisition Project of PAF under the Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program.<\/p>\n<p>The NC212i aircraft can be used strategically for producing artificial rain, as well as maritime and coast guard patrol. It can also be utilized for passenger and troop transport, cargo\/logistic transport, anti-smuggling control, immigration control, search and rescue, paratroop dropping, and medical evacuation.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to the previous NC212, the new model has a carrying capacity of 28 passengers and is equipped with a digital avionic and next generation autopilot.
