MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— Authorities are raising the alarm against illegal drug pushers who are targeting minors inside school premises.<\/p>\n

Speaking to newsmen Thursday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said the specter of elementary pupils taking drugs and other illegal substances is no longer a new phenomenon.<\/p>\n

“Meron tayong<\/em>\u00a0proposal\u00a0sa mga iba\u2019t ibang eskuwelahan na kung pupuwede magkaroon ng<\/em>\u00a0random checks\u00a0dahil<\/em>\u00a0apparently,\u00a0itong mga<\/em>drug pushers,\u00a0wala na talagang pinipili. Pati yung mga bata,<\/em>\u00a0elementary schools,\u00a0pinapasok na nila at sa murang edad gusto nilang maging adik<\/em>\u00a0(We have a proposal to conduct random checks in different schools because apparently, these drug pushers spare no one. The PNP chief underscored the need to work with the Department of Education (DepEd) to secure public schools against the drug menace.<\/p>\n

“Kaya napaka-importante yung<\/em>\u00a0coordination natin\u00a0sa<\/em>\u00a0(That’s why it is important for us to coordinate with) DepEd,” Albayalde said.<\/p>\n

The PNP chief said they have already identified which schools have been infiltrated but understood that there would be no need to divulge the names of the schools.<\/p>\n
