{"id":166163,"date":"2018-06-05T04:33:56","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T08:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=166163"},"modified":"2018-06-05T04:33:56","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T08:33:56","slug":"duterte-tells-un-rapporteur-to-go-to-hell-for-meddling-with-ph-affairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/06\/05\/duterte-tells-un-rapporteur-to-go-to-hell-for-meddling-with-ph-affairs\/","title":{"rendered":"Duterte tells UN rapporteur to &#8216;go to hell&#8217; for meddling with PH affairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">President Rodrigo Duterte told UN human rights expert Diego Garc\u00eda-Say\u00e1n to \u201cgo to hell\u201d as he does not want those who hold positions he does not recognize to interfere in any Philippine affairs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">This came after Garc\u00eda-Say\u00e1n, U.N\u2019s special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, expressed concern on the Supreme Court\u2019s ouster of chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, saying such ruling sent a \u201cchilling effect\u201d to judiciary members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added that Duterte\u2019s public declaration that Sereno is his enemy, just two days before the ex-chief magistrate was ousted, seemed to be \u201cdirectly related\u201d to the SC\u2019s decisions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Duterte, viewing Garc\u00eda-Say\u00e1n\u2019s remarks as an intrusion to domestic affairs, said: \u201c(He) is not a special person and I do not recognize his rapporteur title. Tell him not to interfere with the affairs of my country.
