(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpwh.gov.ph\/dpwh\/news\/13307\" target=\"_blank\">Photo: Department of Public Works and Highways<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 In time for the rainy reason, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reported the completion of the PHP203.4 million flood control project that is set to ease flooding in the areas of Manila City Hall and Intramuros.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) Director Melvin Navarro said the project involved the construction of bigger reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) as drainage measuring 60 inches in diameter along the 2.27-kilometer Padre Burgos Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe completion of this project is in time for the upcoming rainy season,\u201d the DPWH-NCR official said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that it is now serviceable and linked with the newly improved Luneta Pumping Station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFloodwaters can now be easily discharged to Manila Bay with the bigger draining capacity of our pipes, plus the two (2) submersible pumps with a capacity of 0.75 cubic meter per second,\u201d Navarro added.<\/p>\n<p>The drainage was constructed at the stretch of P.
