Senator Vicente \u201cTito\u201d Sotto III, the new Senate President, has been filling social media trending topics while being dragged to several issues and bashing, but his take on this is that he is just an \u201ceasy target.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSiguro<\/em> (Perhaps), the easiest answer is because I’m an easy target,\u201d he said in an interview with GMA on May 22, Tuesday, just a day of officially filling in his new position.<\/p>\n

The star-turned-politician said that he is keeping himself positive despite all the flames he has been receiving online, at the same time citing that bashers are only seeing the negativity.<\/p>\n

\u201cDito kasi sa mga namimintas, ang dami naman sa kanila wala lang maawa eh. Ba\u2019t hindi nila tingnan <\/em>record ko sa<\/em> Senate (Well when it comes to bashers, they have no mercy at all. Why would not they look at my record in the Senate)?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sotto cited his perfect attendance and more than 160 laws he passed.<\/p>\n

However, he added that he was not the type to flaunt his achievements by “broadcasting everything to the media” so it was easy for bashers to just criticize him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAng iniisip ko, \u2018yung inilalagay ko sa isip ko, \u2018yung<\/em> 17 million Filipinos na bumoto sa akin. Hindi \u2018yung <\/em>300 or less bashers (What I am placing in my mind are the 17 million Filipinos who voted for me. Not the 300 or less bashers),\u201d the Senate President noted.<\/p>\n

For Sotto, it was either the bashers simply did not like his \u201cface\u201d or his \u201cpolitics.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Either hindi nila alam or talagang hindi lang nila gusto \u2018yung hilatsa ng pagmumukha ko, or hindi nila gusto yung pulitika ko, ganun lang siguro \u2018yun <\/em>(Either they know nothing or they did not like my face, or they did not like my politics, that is it),” he said.<\/p>\n

Sotto also said that another reason could be his entertainer side, saying that his popularity with Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon in \u201cEat Bulaga!\u201d could also be the source of the bashing he is getting.<\/p>\n

He, however, said that he will just let the Lord have his ways, saying that He knows what the truth is.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo kung anuman ‘yung paniniwala nila, kung anuman ‘yung bintang nila, sa kanila na ‘yon <\/em>(So whatever they want to believe, whatever their accusations are, that is just for them),\u201d he said referring to his bashers.<\/p>\n

Sotto is currently in the pool of criticism for plagiarism, his \u201cna-ano<\/em>\u201d comment to former Department of Social Welfare and Department (DSWD) Judy Taguiwalo, rape allegations and involvement on late actress Pepsi Paloma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
