(Photo: REX Gatchalian\/Facebook)  \" width=\"740\" height=\"740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/17499446_770779836411391_7616163023509881908_n.jpg 740w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/17499446_770779836411391_7616163023509881908_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/17499446_770779836411391_7616163023509881908_n-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-164015\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Recently, another four barangays have been cleared to be drug-free barangays or drug-cleared barangays for a total of eight barangays,&#8221; Gatchalian said in a media forum held at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/REXGatchalianValenzuelaCity\/photos\/a.202288796593834.1073741825.202280736594640\/770779836411391\/?type=1&amp;theater\">(Photo: REX Gatchalian\/Facebook)<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Friday disclosed that nearly 85 percent or 28 of the city\u2019s 33 barangays (villages), have been cleared of illegal drugs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recently, another four barangays have been cleared to be drug-free barangays or drug-cleared barangays for a total of eight barangays,&#8221; Gatchalian said in a media forum held at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) describes such areas as \u201cdrug-cleared\u201d and admits to having difficulty in declaring barangays as \u201cdrug-free.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gatchalian also announced that \u201cthe BADAC (Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council) is complete in Valenzuela.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BADAC is responsible for the implementation of projects and programs to be able to effectively eradicate the drug problem in the barangay.
