President Rodrigo Duterte did not cast his vote in the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections “to erase suspicions” among the candidates in his precint.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll those running candidates are my friends,\u201d the president told reporters\u00a0on Tuesday\u00a0when he visited the wake of the late former Senate president Edgardo Angara.<\/p>\n
He added that almost all backed him during the 2016 national elections,\u00a0and no one would ever believe him whether he voted for them or not.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo erase all suspicions in the minds of people who really helped me along the way, I said ‘I won’t go, I’d rather not vote,'” Duterte said.<\/p>\n
He was expected to vote yesterday at Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School in Davao City, where the public and media waited for him.<\/p>\n
He, however, did not show up, but\u00a0went directly to the Davao International Airport to fly to back to Manila instead.<\/p>\n
