{"id":163778,"date":"2018-05-15T03:19:28","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T07:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=163778"},"modified":"2018-05-15T03:19:28","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T07:19:28","slug":"duterte-skips-barangay-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/05\/15\/duterte-skips-barangay-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Duterte skips Barangay elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Rodrigo Duterte did not cast his vote in the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections &#8220;to erase suspicions&#8221; among the candidates in his precint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll those running candidates are my friends,\u201d the president told reporters\u00a0on Tuesday\u00a0when he visited the wake of the late former Senate president Edgardo Angara.<\/p>\n<p>He added that almost all backed him during the 2016 national elections,\u00a0and no one would ever believe him whether he voted for them or not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo erase all suspicions in the minds of people who really helped me along the way, I said &#8216;I won&#8217;t go, I&#8217;d rather not vote,'&#8221; Duterte said.<\/p>\n<p>He was expected to vote yesterday at Daniel R.
